I Love Black and White

I love this picture. I've had it sitting on my hard drive for a couple of months, and have been wanting to share it. But it never made it into one of my posts, until now.

Hannah at Aspire is having a photo challenge. The theme is Black and White Portraits. I hadn't tried this photo in black and white, but when I saw the theme, I knew exactly what photo to use.

I Love Baking!

Anyone who has spent enough time around me will know that I love to bake. If I make a batch of muffins, I'll bring some for my friends at our co-op. If there is an event where I need to bring something to share, I always make some of my cookies. Most likely chocolate chip cookies.




There is nothing better than a fresh batch of cookies, baked from scratch, right out of the oven. Nice warm cookies, with chocolate that is sill gooey. And you can't forget tasting some of the dough, before you start putting it on the baking sheets. ;-)


These are some oatmeal cookies I made awhile back. Recipe from Smitten Kitchen.





I like muffins. There simple and easy to make, and you can add just about anything into them. I love chocolate muffins.

Then we have cakes, perfect for birthdays, events, or just cause you want one! I love baking cakes from scratch, cause they taste so good! I love messing around with different flavors. Heres some that I've made: orange cake with chocolate frosting, chocolate peppermint Joe-Joe's with egg nogg icing, banana cake with banana frosting.


For breakfast a while back, I made this cinnamon breakfast cake. Recipe from Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything.

Vintage Aircraft Weekend Swing Dance

The night before Vintage Aircraft Weekend started, there was a dinner. It wasn't just any dinner, since many of the guests were dressed like we were in the 1940's! Some came in uniform, others in everyday 40's styled clothing. And there was lots of Swing Dancing. They had a wonderful band, who played some well known Big Band Tunes. They also played some Bobby Darin, one of my favorites.

Also, my sister decided to start her own photography blog. I'm sure she'd love it if you checked it out!

Vintage Aircraft Weekend

A couple of weeks ago, our family volunteered at Vintage Aircraft Weekend. My job was to go around taking pictures of everything that was going on. They had reenactors who wore original World War II uniforms, old military equipment, and vintage aircraft. I love the 1940's, and I enjoyed all the old items from back then.

They had WWII jeeps, bycicles, and a tent with war uniforms and stuff like that inside.

Beach Sunsets -Ocean Vacation-

I'm back! My motherboard arrived today, and my computer is up and running again! If feels nice to be back using my computer. I haven't been taking many pictures lately, but I'm hoping to take a lot more photos, now that I have my computer. 

Here is the last post about our beach vacation, and I think I've saved the best for last: all the sunsets! Boy, where they gorgeous!

I love the texture and the lighting of the clouds in this shot.

Lovely Photo Wednesday - Raindrops on Roses

Why hey there, everyone! It's felt like forever since I posted. If you didn't know, I've been having some computer problems. I have a new motherboard coming and should be posting normal again real soon! For now, I'm going to link up to Hannah's Lovely Photo Wednesday.

You may remember this shot from about a month ago. I posted it with some other raindrop photos, and everyone seemed to enjoy them. This shot of the rose seemed to be a favorite, so I though this would be a good one. I did have some trouble choosing between this one, and another rose shot. 

Computer Problems...

My computer stopped working the other evening. I was going to post several sunset photos from our beach vacation, but I don't have access to them now. My dad thinks it may be the motherboard, but were not really sure. All my photos are safe, though, and it will just be a while till I'll be able to work on anything. Hopefully I will have a working computer soon, so I can post some photos.

I do have this one sunset that I accidental uploaded with some other photos, so at least this post has a photo! We saw some beautiful sunsets while we were there, and I can't wait to share them! :D

Arg! Thar Be Pirate Treasure! -Ocean Vacation-

The day before my brother's birthday, we had a little surprise for him. He's really into pirate things, so my mom and dad put together a treasure chest filled with treasures. That included gold coins, a big blue diamond, shinny necklaces, little skeletons, crystal candle holders, and glass stones. We buried it at the beach one morning, than had my mom bring him outside. We made a map and put it in a bottle, and when Daniel wasn't looking, he threw it into the water. He found the bottle, got the map out, and started searching for buried treasure!

Details on the map: I looked up the beach on Google Earth and sketched it out on a piece of paper. I scanned that into the computer and I colored it in Photoshop. My dad printed it on some tan textured paper, and crinkled it up to give it an aged look. He also used a lighter to burn the edges for a more aged look.

Daniel's Birthday -Ocean Vacation-

My brother's birthday happened to be while we were spending the week at the ocean. He wanted my mom's gluten free chocolate coconut cake and homemade strawberry coconut ice cream (coconut seems to be the theme here...) to celebrate turning eight.
