Random Friday

-A couple months ago my sister Tiana got her new camera, a Panasonic GF3 in the mail. It's a mirror-less interchangeable-lens camera, so the body is quite small, about the size of an average point and shoot, but has interchangeable lenses. It's takes great pictures!

-Our friends Rose, Carrie, and Emmalyn had never seen any of the American Girl movies, but had read the books, so whenever we could we've been getting together to watch them all. We watched them all in date order; Felicity, Samantha, Kit, and Molly. We finished this past Sunday and are planing on watching The Princess Diaries next.

-Two weeks ago our family went to a costume party that our friends hosted. I dressed up as a Disney Tourist. It was awesome.

-Tuesday I watched Bells are Ringing, a musical staring Judy Holliday and Dean Martin. I first saw it 2-3 years ago when I was just getting into old movies, but I enjoyed it even more this time. It's got some catchy songs and my sisters had them stuck in their heads for days! lol!

-Yesterday I suddely decided to take some video of all the pretty fall leaves and such outside and made a video montage with music. I turned out pretty good!

My Siblings // Autumn Portraits

The other evening, quite randomly and suddenly, decided I wanted to take some fall pictures. The lighting was perfect for portraits, although it was a bit chilly outside. I had Tiana, Alina, and Daniel dress in some fall-ish clothes: sweaters, boots, scarfs, and such. I was able to try some new poses, which I found on Pinterest. There are so many awesome ideas on there! After we finished, we went inside and ate candy corn. Yep, I like fall.

Project 52: Week 45

I Heart Faces - Autumn Splendor

Fall = lots of colorful leaves on the ground all over the place.

Carving and Painting

For the last few years, instead of carving my pumpkin, I've painted it instead. I enjoy painting them more, and I like all the color it adds. Usually the rest of my siblings carve their's, but this year Alina and my mom painted their's as well.

Alina drew about a dozen or so faces on a piece of paper before deciding on this silly face.

Tiana chose to carve like usual, and picked out a horse and rider pattern that she found online.

My mom painted her's and used a picture of goofy that she traced onto the pumpkin before painting.

Daniel came up with a dead pumpkin face.

I'm a big Muppets fan, so I decided to paint Kermit the Frog this year. I traced him freehand on the pumpkin before painting him.

Project 52: Week 43

We didn't end up carving and painting our pumpkins till the 31st. All of us kids and my mom had a fun time choosing what to make and painting or carving them. I'll be posting more about them this week.

Oatmeal Cookies

Although I've baked snickerdoodle, chocolate snowballs, and chocolate chip cookies many, many times, I rarely make oatmeal cookies. I love anything with oats in it, though, and I really love oatmeal cookies. 

I don't like to add any thing like nuts or raisins in them. For me, plain is the way to go!

I used the recipe from Smitten Kitchen. It's a great, simple oatmeal cookie recipe, which is just what I like. And as usual, I substituted the all-purpose flower for whole wheat flower.

Project 52: Week 39

Fall is here. It's getting colder outside and the leaves are beginning to change from green to bright shades yellow, red, and orange. 

An Afternoon Walk

Sunday afternoon we decided to go for a walk on a trail near my dad's work.

I thought this wood bridge looked neat.

We passed by a pond with a few dozen ducks that quickly swam towards any people they saw. 

Giving Thanks

First of, I'd like to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there! Families all over America will be eating  delicious dinners with their family and friends.

Some Candy Corns

Saturday,October 30th, was National Candy Corn day.

Mr. Scarecrow

This guy gets pulled out every autumn along with our other fall decorations. He's a pretty little fella, at a little under a foot tall. He's always very cooperative when I want to take his photo. (I took several of him last year with my point-and-shoot). He never complains and always has a smile on his face, making him a wonderful photography subject.

Carlotta is having a photo challenge, the theme being color. I thought I'd enter this photo, with all the warm and golden tones that I love.

Hiking Through the Forest

Saturday my dad wanted to get out of the house, and since it was a nice day, we decided to go on a hike.

The path was covered with leaves that had already fallen off the trees.

I loved the sunlight that was shining through the forest.


I loved the lighting at one of the viewing points for one of the falls, so I snapped some shots of my sister.
